'If there is any allegation against an APC member make it open'

The Information Minister also called upon the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to move a step further beyond mere speculation.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said that the Federal Government of Nigeria will not shield any member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who is involved in the alleged misuse of security funds.

The Information Minister also called upon the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to move a step further beyond mere speculation. The speculation being referred to by Lai Mohammed, is a call upon members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to name any member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who is involved in the alleged misuse of security funds.

Quoting Alhaji Lai Mohammed, “We do not see the nexus between the revelation coming out now and a truth commission."

“What the PDP is looking for is just distractions. If there is any allegation against any member of the APC, make the allegation open. All we are hearing are whispers. If there is evidence provide them in the open.”

Furthermore, the Minister also discredited the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) attempt to call upon President Mohammadu Buhari, requesting for a disclosure of his campaigns fund sources.

Meanwhile, Lai Mohammed spoke on the proposal by the Muhammadu Buhari's administration to purchase BMW cars worth three billion, six million Naira (N3.6 bn) in the 2016 fiscal year. He said the proposal was misdirected and that President Mohammad Buhari's administration would not be accused of extravagance.

In Lai Mohammed's words, “It is quite possible that some of the BMW cars being referred to are for the use of the VIPs. What I can assure you is that this government is very prudent in its spending. I can tell you that no minister bought a new car, all of us inherited the cars used by our predecessors. This is the last government that you can accuse of extravagance."
