Amaechi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the law was no respecter of any person, especially in matters of national economic interest.

"It is saddening to see judges at that cadre to be arrested, but I want to state categorically that nobody is above the law.

‘"If there is credible evidence, if anybody commits crime no matter your class, whether rich or common man, you need to be arrested and tried,’’ he said.

Amaechi, a lawyer, decried the degenerated state of Nigeria’s judicial system, and challenged the Department of State Service (DSS) and other security agencies to be objective in their investigations.

He called for total clean-up in the judicial system, saying that corruption ought not to be found in the system.

According to him, if huge amount of illegal money is found in the possession of judges, there is every need to investigate it.

The former speaker expressed confidence in the rule of law, saying that stronger institutions were the roadmap towards a corrupt-free judicial system.

He decried the level of corruption in different sectors of the polity, and said that it must be resisted.
