Justice John Tsoho of an Abuja division of the Federal High Court has withdrawn from the trial of eight suspected Boko Haram members accused of murder.

The defendants are standing trial for the alleged murder of five foreigners who had been kidnapped in Kebbi state in 2011.

They are also suspected to have been involved in the murder of seven other foreigners who were abducted in Bauchi state and moved to Sambisa Forest in Borno state in 2013.

Early reports indicate that Justice Tsoho's decision to withdraw is fueled by the applications of six of the defendants to have the case transferred from his court.
