30 miners have been reported dead in Zamfara State following an attack by a group of yet-unidentified gunmen.

The attack is said to have occurred on Monday, November 7, in Bindim Village which is located in the Maru Local Government Area of the state, according to The Cable.

The report adds that the miners were killed after being ambushed at a mine location.

Illegal gold mining is common in Zamfara and some of these mine sites have witnessed an increase in armed raids in recent times.
