The Sokoto Area Command of Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) said it generated N71 million revenue in May.

He said that the command had also taken step to meet the revenue target of N 117 billion for 2015 fiscal year as instructed by the headquarters. The comptroller said that officers at the border posts had been briefed on measures to prevent all forms of smuggling.

Mr Ishaku Ahmed, the Area comptroller for Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Wednesday. Ahmed said that adequate security measures had been put in place to check any form of smuggling as a business in the area.
“We have positioned our officers in all the identified routes of smugglers in our areas of jurisdictions in other to apprehend them for prosecution,” he said.
Ahmed called for the support of traditional rulers in the border communities to assist officers with intelligence reports that could lead to arrest and prosecution of smugglers.
He said that prompt information on movement of smugglers would enable officers to come out with measures that would lead to their arrest.
“We are ready to meet any smugglers at the battle field in our resolve to discharge our primary assignment diligently, " he said.
Ahmed called on officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best, promising to reward hard working officers.
