Contractors given 72 hours to clean up PH or be sacked

The government emphasised that those who do not comply with the ultimatum will have their licenses revoked.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State

The Nyesom Wike-led Government of Rivers State has threatened to sack contractors if they fail to get rid of all the garbage in Port Harcourt within 72 hours.

The State’s Waste Management Authority Administrator, Chief Felix Obuah Obuah, issued the threat in Port Harcourt on Friday, June 5, during a meeting with waste management contractors.

Wike appointed Obuah on Thursday, June 4, after his tour of major roads in Port Harcourt and an unscheduled visit to the office of the State Waste Management Authority.

The administrator said that nothing will deter the new government from returning Port Harcourt to the Garden City it is known for.
