He said that the cannabis was concealed in a Mercedez Benz truck with registration number MUS 207 XA to avoid its being noticed by security agents.

Sokoto said the command was able to discover the product through intelligence reports forwarded to it and  advised members of the public to continue to assist the agency with information.

He promised that the agency would treat information it received with utmost  “confidentiality’’.

“The vehicle was specifically designed, the volume or the quantity of seizure is not the most important but the mode of concealment.

“The compartment of the haulage was divided into two;  the outer part is used to park legitimate items as camouflage.

“Unfortunately, for the vehicle driver, intelligence report had  already reached us and we searched the vehicle and found cannabis in it,” Sokoto said.

“In the recent past we have destroyed a lot of cannabis farms, about 24,000kg of cannabis have been destroyed in the last two months.

“It is the civic responsibility of members of the public to render assistance to the relevant authority,’’ he said.
