In Ogun Petrol tanker falls in Ilaro

According the eyewitnesses, the driver of the petrol tanker fled from the scene after the vehicle tumbled for fear of being beaten up by youths in the area.

Pandemonium broke lose in the early hours of Friday when a petrol tanker fell, emptying its content on the road at the Library Junction in Ilaro, in Yewa South Local Government Area of the Ogun State.

According the eyewitnesses, the driver of the petrol tanker fled from the scene after the vehicle tumbled for fear of being beaten up by youths in the area.

The incident cause a serious traffic gridlock, blocking the roads leading to Library Junction, leaving commuters stranded.

It was also reported that some residents brought out kegs and other containers to scoop the fuel. Fortunately, no life was lost in the incident.

Police Officers and personnel of Civil Defence Corps rushed to the scene as well as the Rapid Intervention Unit of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, that was also on the ground with a fire fighting van.
