The military onslaught in Arepo, Ogun state seems to have assumed another dimension, as a video of an ongoing clash between militants and the military has emerged.

The military on July 28, 2016, bombarded alleged hideouts militants in the dreaded Iroko creeks.

Vanguard reported that 30 houses were destroyed and an undisclosed number of lives were also lost.

Today, Saturday, July 30, 2016, Punch reports that residents of Arepo and Ibadan communities fled their houses following sounds of gunshot and helicopters hovering around the area.

Reports also say the security team were engaging the militants in their domain, adding that some of them have escaped.

According to Punch, some of the militants escaped the creeks following the military operations, to hide in people’s houses.

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has also disowned the Niger Delta Avengers and Arepo militants in Lagos and Ogun states, saying they are common criminals.
