The new Senators and House of Representatives members were sworn in on June 9, 2015 and have gone on recess twice since then.

They are currently on a six-week recess which they embarked upon on August 13 and will resume on September 29.
The recess allowance is 10 percent of the annual basic salary of the legislators, a total sum of N93,307,662, according to Daily Trust.

Following a recent uproar, the legislators promised to slash their salaries but this move has been subsequently rejected by the Senate.
