Lawmakers who fought in Assembly lose leadership positions

Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly who engaged in a fight at the chambers, have been stripped of their leadership position and committee chairmanship.

Those who lost their leadership positions includes: Deputy majority Leader, Abubakar Obere Kana who was replaced by Daniel Oga Ogazi and Chief Whip, Mala Makpa, who was replaced with Sani Isa.

The assembly also stripped them of committees. They are to hand over to their deputies.

The Speaker described the attitude exhibited by the suspended lawmakers as unfortunate, saying that as people representatives they are supposed to lead by example.

He apologised to the people of the state over what he described as unfortunate incident, maintaining that the assembly has taken measures to forestall re-occurrence.

Meanwhile, the assembly members have passed vote of confidence on their leadership, following a motion asking for total support of the assembly leadership by minority leader and seconded by member representing Nasarawa Eggon East.
