Alhaji Lawal Shehu-Batsari, Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, has confirmed that two of his men were crushed to death by a hit-and-run vehicle in Lafia on Wednesday.

The police boss told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that he got the report at about 6.05 a.m.

"I got a report that two of my men, who were returning from their duty post along Shendam road, Lafia, on a motor cycle were knocked down by an unknown driver that sped away.

He said that the two officers were attached to the Department of Operations and had closed from a night duty at NIPOST office in Lafia.

The polic commissioner said that investigation into the incident had commenced, and vowed to arrest the fleeing driver.
