In Katsina Legislator lauds FG’s agricultural policy implementation

A member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Sani Fago, has commended the Federal Government for effectively implementing agricultural policies that would guarantee food security.

Fago (APC), representing Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State, spoke at the distribution of empowerment items to people of his constituency in Daura.

He praised the Agriculture Anchor Borrower’s Programme which the Federal Government was supporting with N220 billion for micro, small and medium agricultural enterprises development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the scheme, being supervised by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on Nov. 17, 2015.

Fago advised youths to key into the programme by engaging in agricultural production.

The lawmaker, also a former Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, said that the National Assembly was “working hard’’ to pass the 2017 budget.

He said that the 2017 budget would soon be passed by the National Assembly to pave way for regular and uninterrupted flow of government expenditures for the general development.

Fago said that the empowerment programmes were meant to alleviate through job creation.

He urged politicians and other public-spirited individuals to complement the efforts of government toward alleviating poverty.

NAN reports that some of the items distributed include 26 tricycles and 10 multi-purpose farming implements. 

NAN also reports that Fago had previously distributed 196 motorcycles, 10 tricycles and 40 sewing machines to people in his constituency.

In his remarks, Alhaji Sani Altine, the APC Chairman in Daura Local Government Area, lauded the efforts of the lawmaker toward alleviating poverty among the people.

Malam Ibrahim Daguma, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked Fago for the initiative, urging other politicians to emulate his gesture.
