Malam Hamza Ikara, Health Educator, Kaduna State Primary Healthcare Agency (SPHCA), said on Saturday that three million children would be vaccinated during the ongoing immunisation against measles in the state.

Ikara said that the state primary healthcare agency had concluded arrangements for the smooth conduct of the exercise.

Ikara, in a statement he issued in Kaduna, said that the exercise was aim at eradicating measles in the state.
He explained that children between nine and 59 months would be vaccinated during the exercise, scheduled for Nov. 21 to Nov. 25.
“In 2015 alone, Kaduna State recorded 748 cases of measles, it becomes necessary, we team up so as to do away with this disease,” Ikara stated.
He explained that the measles campaign would take place in all the local government areas of the state.
`` I appeal to parents and care givers to take the advantage of this campaign and ensure that their children from nine months to 59 months are not left out. The vaccine is safe and very effective.
‘’Nigeria has been certified as polio free country and the big challenge now is to eradicate measles with a view to having healthy children.
`` We commend development partners and relevant donor agencies for their support toward the eradication of polio and now focusing in measles,’’ he said.
