150 patients to benefit from ABUTH Resident Doctors free surgery

The categories of patients to be treated include those with lipoma, hernia, hydrocele, appendicitis and fibroid.

Robotic Assisted Partial Knee Replacement Surgery

Dr Waziri Aliyu-Dahiru made this known in an interview with Journalists shortly after launching the exercise at Saidu Dange Memorial Hospital (Railway Hospital), Zaria, Kaduna State, on Saturday.

He said that the exercise was part of activities to mark 2016 ARD Week and also to appreciate God Almighty for sparing the doctors’ lives to see the end of the year.

The president identified the categories of patients to be treated to include those with lipoma, hernia, hydrocele, appendicitis and fibroid.

Aliyu-Dahiru said the association would provide free health services during the period, pay a visit to orphanages around the area and undertake free distribution of drugs and community outreach services.

“Annually, we carry out some activities such as community outreach, free surgery for patients, free medication as well as visitations to orphanage homes; these are all in line with the culture of this association.

“We have dedicated a team of experts who have a wealth of experience within us who will carry out the surgery in the next three days.

“Apart from that, we shall carry out marvellous activities throughout the week as part of the association’s social responsibilities.”

He said that the beneficiaries were drawn from eight Local Government Areas of Northern Kaduna Senatorial District including Zaria, Sabongari, Kudan, Makarfi, Ikara, Soba, Lere and Kubau.

One of the beneficiaries, Malam Sani Ibrahim from Samaru in Sabongari Local Government, lauded the efforts of the doctors and urged them to sustain the tempo in order to save the lives of less-privileged Nigerians.

He said that he had not been able to undergo surgery since he was diagnosed with hernia due to lack of funds.

The patient appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the kind gesture of the resident doctors to give many citizens hope in life.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that many unscreened patients converged at the venue begging to be included, a testimony to the high level of poverty and need in the society.
