In Edo Communal clash leaves one dead, several others injured

A communal clash between the people of Uneme-Erhurhun in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area and Okpella Ogute in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo state, has left one person dead.

Vanguard reports that several others are being treated for injuries they sustained in the clash.

The communal clash started when youths from Erhurhu community reportedly blocked a path to the forest, where residents from Okpella use to convey logs of wood.

Also Vanguard says there are reports that the clash might be connected to the huge deposit of precious stones in the area.

Both communities are allegedly claim ownership  of the area where the stones are currently being exploited.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole ordered for  the arrest of two members of staff of the disbanded Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) for fraud.

He has also sacked the  Managing Director of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA), Austin Evbakhavbokun, with immediate effect.

The Edo state first lady, Iara Oshiomhole has also denied rumours making the rounds that her marriage with the Governor has crashed.
