Gun-totting individuals allegedly took over the local Motor Park of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Uvwie Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.

It was further reported that the gunmen allegedly led by Francis Ariyor, chased the incumbent NURTW Chairman, Napoleon Adibu and his cabinet out of the park after several minutes of gunshot exchange.

In a recent report by SaharaReporters, a heavy gun battle took place at the motor park when armed men suspected to be loyalists of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa invaded the park with intent to chase the park leadership away.
It was further reported that the gunmen allegedly led by Francis Ariyor, chased the incumbent NURTW Chairman, Napoleon Adibu and his cabinet out of the park after several minutes of gunshot exchange.
A driver who spoke to SaharaReporters and pleaded for anonymity, disclosed that the gunmen shot sporadically as Adibu and his men were also seen returning fire.
The gun battle paralyzed social and commercial activities in the area as residents scampered for their lives.
A statement signed by the Secretary of the Uvwie Local Government Council, Uvwie Emete Julius, assured residents of their safety while acknowledging Adibu as the lawful administrator of the motor park.
Delta State Police spokesperson Celestina Kalu confirmed the story when contacted and said the police had made some arrests related to the incident.
