The Commandant of the corps in the state, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri.

Abdullahi said the beneficiaries drawn from five companies out of the thirty 30 licensed private guard companies in the state, would be trained to enhance protection of lives and service delivery.

“As clearly stipulated in the mandate of the corps, Part II Section 1of NSCDC Act 2003 and 2007, as amended, the corps is empowered to perform among other things, the licensing of private guards, train, monitor and supervise their activities and ensure compliance to the laid down rules and regulations of the private guards companies, among others.

“This quarterly training is to keep them abreast of modern security tactics with a view to achieving grass root security, especially as we approach Yuletide when crimes are always on the increase.

“As the Commandant-General, , always says,“the best form of security is self-defence, you must be able to defend yourself before you defend others.

“All private security guards must, therefore, be proactive and rise up against the current security challenges, especially with the new tactics devised by Boko Haram insurgents to cause havoc by any means,”he said.

Abdullahi explained that the command had drawn a training curriculum that would inculcate in the trainees, the act of professionalism and efficiency in protection of lives and property.

“This training will include regular capacity building and set programmes on modern trends of crime prevention and security in private and public institutions,” said Abdullahi.
