Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said that his government will not surrender to Fulani herdsmen who have been terrorizing communities in the state.

Ortom made the comment after a town hall meeting in Makurdi, the state capital.

“I have made it clear that we will not surrender Benue to herdsmen. We are saying that we do not have land for grazing,” Ortom said according to Vanguard.

“Though we are ready to support those that are prepared to ranch their cows but for those involved in open grazing should find other states because with the new law that would soon come into effect, that practice will not be acceptable in Benue State,” he added.

Benue has suffered most of the attacks from the herdsmen who killed hundreds of people in the Agatu area of the state in February 2016.
