The Operations Controller, DPR in charge of Akwa Ibom and Cross River, Bassey Nkanga, said this on Sunday while fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo.
Nkanga said that there has not been any increase in the price of petrol.
He warned marketers against selling above the official pump price of N145 per litre.
“There has been relative stability in the prices of petrol in the past months.
“The current crisis is as result of dispute between the petroleum drivers and officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp in the state,” Nkanga said.
He, however, assured that the matter is being resolved and advised members of the public against panic buying as there were enough products in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the product is currently being sold between N180 and N220 per litre, and only few filling stations were dispensing.
