3 Unforgettable things Acting EFCC chairman told Senate

The resolution was sequel to another damning letter by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The letter was received by the Senate on at about 5pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

"In the light of the forgoing, Magu has failed the integrity test and will eventually constitute a liability to the anti-corruption drive of the present administration," the letter said.

Before his disqualification, Magu reacted to questions from Senators.

1. ’I don’t know how much was recovered from looters’

Senator Duro Faseyi asked Magu: “How much funds have been recovered since you took charge of the commission?”

Magu’s reply was rather disappointing.

“It is difficult to give report on how much has been recovered from fight against corruption,” he said.

“It is very difficult for me to say,” he added.

2. ‘There is corruption in the EFCC“There is corruption everywhere, even in the EFCC but we are doing our best to check it.” Magu told Senate.

He explains further…

“We discovered that some operatives in the account department paid money to their relatives. We referred the case to the discipline and promotion department and we investigated and prosecuted those involved – about two or three of them,” he added.

3. ‘Dino and I fought corruption before he became a Senator’

Magu told the Senate that Dino Melaye was involved in the fight against corruption before he became a Senator.

“ Dino, we were fighting corruption together until you came to the Senate and forgot us," he said.

Magu also mistakenly referred to a lawmaker as 'Senator Fayose.'
