Kachikwu was in the community to also see how work on the Maritime University can commence.
Sahara Reporters reports that Kachikwu was in the community to also see how work on the Maritime University can commence,
Kachikwu, in a Town Hall meeting organised for people of the South-South in Akwa-Ibom state, said the University will be completed, no matter how much it costs.
He also disagreed with the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on other issues concerning the Niger Delta region.
The minister also said he supports calls for the region that produces the crude oil for the country, to be developed.
Kachikwu has been praised by some Niger Delta groups, who referred to him as a true son of the Niger-Delta.
Reno Omokri, the former aide of ex President Goodluck Jonathan, also praised Kachikwu in a tweet.
Omokri said “Ibe Kachikwu taught us the difference between a MINISTER and a ME-nister. A ministers to Nigerians while a me-nister ministers to his ego!”
A new Niger-Delta militant group, Utorogu Liberation Movement (ULM) has emerged, vowing to blow up gas pipelines in the region.
