The drivers also accused President Goodluck Jonathan of being responsible for the growth of the terrorist group with some of them calling him the “Chairman of Boko Haram”.
The truck drivers, most of whom deliver petrol, diesel or kerosene to and from Borno State, revealed this during an interview with the BBC in Ogere, Ogun State.
"We are all concerned about the situation, we have all lost relatives, wives and children are kidnapped and houses have been burnt," a driver, Atiku Abubakar said.
Ten of my colleagues who ply this route have been killed in the last three weeks. The militants stopped them and cut off their heads with an electric chainsaw and burned the trucks," he added.
“President Jonathan is just as guilty as those Boko Haram killers because he has chopped off all the money to repair the roads,” Abubakar said.
Another driver, Trap Bukar, who had battle wounds on his chest, said that he had been in the town of Bama when it was captured by Boko Haram.
"It started early in the morning. Suddenly they came. There was shooting, in my presence I saw four people go down. I could tell you many unhappy tales,” Bukar said.
“The killings are too much and have been going on for too long, President Jonathan is not doing anything. We hope he will leave - we want change,” Abubakar added.
Jonathan has been castigated for the insurgency which has bloomed during his regime and US President, Barack Obama has said that the Nigerian government has been ineffective against the terrorist sect.
