Dan-Nkang added that his company would partner with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to sensitise people on the importance of arts and the significance of symbols on the roads.

“We are partnering with the FRSC this year because their symbols are arts related, and it will help to lecture people on the signs on our roads and how to use them,’’ he said.

“We are using the opportunity to make people appreciate the value of arts and also to create and promote arts, culture and entertainment in the country."

Dan-Nkang explained further that the FRSC signs and symbols included graphic illustrations and “ as such could be rightly described as artworks.’’

“This shows how deep the relationship between the FRSC and the visual art is, and should be.

“This is a fact that many people do not either know or realise,’’ he said.

Dan-Nkang said that visual arts and other arts occupied the everyday living and were vital point in everybody’s life, without which people would live in an indeterminate state.

He stressed that the whole idea about having the FRSC as a major partner in its upcoming exhibition tagged: “ARTru2017’’ was as a result of the theme for the year titled, “Think Safety’’.

“We all know that the FRSC is in the forefront of ensuring adherence to the word safety; however, they are particular about safety on the Nigerian roads.

“We also know that safety is one of the key factors of human existence and in the protection of lives and properties’’.

In the same vein, Hyginus Omeje, the Corp Commander of the Lagos State FRSC Sector Command described the partnership as corporate strategic objective by the body.

Omeje added that it was part of efforts of the FRSC to enhanced public education, and enlightenment campaign on safety.

“We are partnering with “ARTru 2017’’ to make the public aware of, and to encourage Nigerians to embrace the culture of using the pedestrian lanes and bridges.

“This is to help reduce the numerous carnages and recent increase in loss of lives on our major roads within the metropolis."

“Due to inappropriate pedestrian crossing, and as well ensure a high level of safety on our roads."

“We need the support and involvements of every individual, as well as the public and private sectors in other to drive home all our safety messages,’’ he said.
