Senate summons minister of works

Worried over the rate of collapse of bailey bridges across the country, the Senate has resolved to summon the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN).

Fashola has been summoned by the Senate, to explain what plans his ministry has in place, to sort out the issue of the failing bailey bridges.

The Senate also mandated the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency(FERMA) to quickly repair the bailey bridges at Ebenyi River in Ikem inthe Isi Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Commenting, Senator Gilbert Nnaji said "The attendant loss of lives and livelihoods as well as other forms of economic deprivation and losses are avoidable if proactive steps were taken from time to time either to maintain or to reconstruct such bridges.”

Nigerians undefinedas the Minister of Power, Works and Housing.

The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) leader, Dr Frederick Fasehun, described the Fashola's appointment   as overfeeding.
