Court says EFCC was right to detain ex-minister

The decision was reached by presiding judge, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

The court therefore dismissed Fani-Kayode’s suit challenging his detention by the EFCC.

The decision was reached by presiding judge, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

Justice Adeniyi however criticized the EFCC’s practice of arresting and detaining suspects for the purposes of investigation.

Fani-Kayode was, on June 28, arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos after being arrested by the EFCC in early May on money laundering charges.

The former minister has been remanded in prison pending the hearing of his bail application.
