Yunusa had been in prison custody over his inability to meet the bail conditions.

The court had admitted the accused to bail in the sum of three million naira with two sure ties in like sum.

It held that one of the sure ties must be a civil servant on grade level 12, and the other a traditional ruler from Bayelsa.
