The Sokoto State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC), says it will deploy no fewer than 870 personnel for the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitri celebrations across the state.

Aliyu said: "No fewer than 700 personnel are to be deployed for the exercise across the state and 12 operational vehicles will be put at their disposal.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Commandant of the Corps in the state, Mr Babangida Aliyu, disclosed this when he addressed newsmen on the sallah preparations by the command in Sokoto on Monday.
"About 50 armed personnel are to be deployed for the exercise, while another 100 personnel and 20 armed personnel are to be on standby.
"All divisions, departments and units are to be fully involved in the operation. All operational gadgets are also to be deployed during the celebrations.''
Aliyu said that all Eid praying grounds, critical infrastructure, as well as public and private facilities are to be covered during the period on a round-the-clock basis. According to him, the command would also intensify its routine patrols and surveillance operations across the state.
Aliyu appealed to the people of the state to continue to be law abiding, so as ensure hitch-free celebrations. Meanwhile, the state police command says it had also concluded adequate arrangements to ensure successful sallah celebrations across the state.
"We are deploying an adequate number of well-equipped personnel, including personnel of the anti-bomb squad,'' the command's spokesman, Mr El-Mustapha Sani also told newsmen.
