Range of vaccines necessary to fight Ebola---virologist

German virologist Thomas Strecker has said that a one-size-suits-all vaccine will not be enough to fight the spread of the Ebola virus.

"It is important to have a range of vaccination strategies as different vaccines will be required to treat different groups of patients,’’ Strecker said on Tuesday.

Strecker's research for the Institute of Virology at the University of Marburg had led him to the West African country of Guinea, where the Ebola virus broke out.

He carried out blood tests in other to determine the pathogen that caused the epidemic and his research on the cause and preventative strategies is ongoing.
