7th possibly infected British health worker arrives home

Although the UK patient currently has no symptoms, said individual worked in the same facility in Sierra Leone as a United States volunteer medic who recently caught the virus.

A seventh UK healthcare worker has been flown back home after suspected contact with Ebola, BBC reports.

Although the UK patient currently has no symptoms, said individual worked in the same facility in Sierra Leone as a United States volunteer medic who recently caught the virus.

The patients have reportedly been assessed and discharged from the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, but will be kept under close observation.

Public Health England however assures that the risk to the general public from Ebola remained "very low".

Meanwhile, 2 other UK healthcare workers are currently being cared for in the Royal Free Hospital in London.

1 of the Royal Free patients was diagnosed with Ebola while in Sierra Leone and was flown back to the UK on an RAF plane on Thursday, along with two colleagues who had come into close contact with her.

While a further 2 close contacts were flown to Newcastle Royal Infirmary on Friday but have since been discharged.

The last Royal Free patient sustained a needlestick injury while caring for an Ebola patient in Sierra Leone, something that is considered one of the most dangerous ways of being exposed to the virus.

While Liberia is on the way to being declared an Ebola free country, having released its last patient over 2 weeks ago, Sierra Leone continues to record new cases.
