EFCC arrests AIT Chairman for allegedly collecting N2.1bn from looted arms funds

Dokpesi was arrested today, December 1, 2015, in connection with the alleged looting of $2 billion in funds meant for the procurement of arms for Nigeria’s military.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested the Chairman of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi.

According to Sahara Reporters, Dokpesi was arrested today, December 1, 2015, in connection with the alleged looting of $2 billion in funds meant for the procurement of arms for Nigeria’s military.

The money is said to have been paid to Dokpesi by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the orders of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

Dasuki was also arrested today by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS).

President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the arrest of Dasukiand other persons indicted in connection to the alleged fraud following a report submitted by a probe panel instituted by him.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has also arrested 20 officialswho worked with the former NSA during his tenure.
