Dasuki was said to have been invited to appear before the committee to clear his name but he refused to appear, Punch reports.
“Don’t forget that the DSS is on that committee probing those arms deals. He was invited by the DSS and he refused to honour the invitation despite that his lawyer acknowledged the document,” the source said.
“Instead for Dasuki to honour the invitation, he remained indoors and was whipping up sentiment. If he is taken to any court without his statement, the case will automatically be thrown out,” the source added.
The Presidency had, on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, revealed that the former NSA had been accused of diverting up to N337 billion in funds meant for procuring arms for Nigeria’s fight against Boko Haram.
President Muhammadu Buhari also ordered the arrest of Dasuki and other persons involved.
In response, however, Dasuki accused the Presidency of desperation and said that he was innocent of the charges against him.
Dasuki is facing charges of illegal arms possession and money laundering.
The former NSA’s troubles began in July after he was removed by President Muhammadu Buhari and saw his homes in Abuja and Sokoto raided by officials of the DSS.
