Ex-Governor, Bafarawa denies receiving money from former NSA

Reports say Dasuki has started mentioning names of PDP chieftains and ex-Governors who benefitted from the largesse.

Former National Security Adviser, Mohammed Sambo Dasuki.

The former  Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa has denied receiving any money from the former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki.

This is contrary to a statement allegedly made by Bafarawa saying that he received N4.6bn from Dasuki for “spiritual purposes.”

Daily Trust Newspapers reports thatBafarawa’s media aide, Alhaji Akibu Dalhatu, said “The former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa did not receive any money from Col. Sambo Dasuki for any arms deal or for any purpose.”

The ex-governor's son was also arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) on November 30, 2015.

Also in connection to the arm purchase scandal, the Chairman of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi has also been arrested by the EFCC.

Dokpesi was quoted saying that the money he received from the office of the NSA, was for the publicity of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election campaign.

Sambo Dasuki has since been handed over to the EFCC by the Department of State Security(DSS) for further interrogation.

The former National Security Adviser (NSA) was indicted by a committee setup to investigate the various arms purchases since 2007.
