Court adjourns former NSA’s trial over absence of legal team

The presiding Judge, Justice Baba Yusuf subsequently adjourned the case till 11 am, Friday, January 22, 2016

 

The trial of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) was adjourned, due to the absence of his lawyers, Mr. Joseph Daudu (SAN) and Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN).

Vanguard reports that the Daudu had earlier written to inform the court, that they would be making an appearance at the elections petition tribunal sitting in Kogi state.

The presiding Judge, Justice Baba Yusuf subsequently adjourned the case till 11 am, Friday, January 22, 2016.

You will recall that Justice Yusuf had earlier granted the former NSA bail on December 18, 2015.

Also, Justice Peter Affen, on December 21, 2015, granted Dasuki bail in the sum of N250m with two sureties in like sum.

He was however remanded in Kuje Prisons, Abuja, since he could not meet his bail conditions immediately.

After satisfying his bail conditions, Dasuki was released from prison, only to be re-arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Sambo Dasuki has been under investigation following his indictment in the alleged $2.1b arms purchase scam.

As a result of further investigations, a number of ‘highly placed’ Nigerians have also been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
