The death of iconic Hausa musician, Dan Maraya Jos has led to an outpouring of grief across the nation.
Atiku, Dogara, Ireti Doyle, others mourn late legend
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar expressed shock and sadness at the musician’s passing adding that he would be sorely missed.

Dan Maraya, whose real name was Adamu Wayya, died today, June 20, 2015, in Jos, Plateau State after a protracted illness.
In a statement released by his media aide, Paul Ibe, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar expressed shock and sadness at the musician’s passing adding that he would be sorely missed.
Atiku also said that Dan Maraya used music to contribute to national unity, peace and stability by preaching togetherness and common brotherhood of all Nigerians in the many beautiful lyrics he sang through the ages.
In his condolence message, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara said:
“Danmaraya’s sudden death came to me as a shock and I want to use this medium to condole with the Danmaraya family, the government and people of Plateau State and all Nigerians over this irreparable loss.”
Actress Ireti Doyle also mourned Dan Maraya via Twitter saying:
“Eyyyah!! .... Baban mutumi!!! RIP DAN MARAYA JOS.”
Dan Maraya’s death was was announced by his close friend and associate, Ladan Salihu via Facebook.
