INEC trains 90 staff in Edo

The Administrative Secretary of the commission in the state, Mr Oscar-Lee Amaechi, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Tuesday.

He said that five of the trained personnel would be assigned to each of the 18 local government areas in the state for the exercise.

Amaechi said that the exercise would be conducted in INEC’s office in each of the local government areas, adding that it would end on July 25.

”The nationwide continuous voter registration will be done in the 774 local government areas in the federation, with Edo inclusive."

”The exercise will commence on Thursday and end on July 25, 2017, lasting for 90 days."

”It will commence at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. on weekdays only, excluding public holidays,” he said.

According to Amaechi, those eligible to register include people that have turned 18 years after the last voter registration.

“Also eligible are those people with the Temporary Voter Card (TVC) whose names are not in the voters register and people who did not register at all during the last exercise."

“Those who are seeking transfer from one place to the other are also eligible to participate in the exercise."

“People who want to collect their should also visit INEC offices in their local government areas,’’ he said.

He announced that the exercise would be launched at the commission’s officer in Benin by National Commissioner for South-South in the commission, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu, on Thursday.
