According to a report by Sahara Reporters, some senators who met behind closed doors were incensed by the proposed trial of the leadership of the Senate for forgery and threatened to impeach the President.

The Senators had made secret moves to truncate the administration of President Buhari by instigating an impeachment process in the upper legislative arm of government.

However, it was reported that some Senators led by Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi (APC Kaduna North) and Kabir Marafa (APC Zamfara Central) called on the aggrieved colleagues to sheathe their sword and withdraw the petition that had led to the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

The report further revealed that the session, which was chaired by Saraki, unveiled a reconciliatory committee led by ex-Senate President David Mark, who had reportedly shut his office in the complex for four months, to reconcile warring members.

It was further learnt that despite Senator Mark's show of surprise as the head of the reconciliatory committee, he was reportedly told to do his “work”.

This drama is coming following the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu over allegations of forging documents that brought them into power.
