President to visit South Africa this week

President Muhammadu Buhari will visit South Africa later this week, reports say.

Buhari is expected to be present in Johannesburg to attend the forum on China-Africa Co-operation which will hold from December 4-5, 2015, Daily Trust reports.

The Nigerian President will also discuss the $5.2billion fine on telecommunications company, MTN with his South African counterpart, Jacob Zuma on the sidelines of the forum, SA’s Sunday Times reports.

MTN, a South African company, was fined the hefty sum after disobeying SIM registration guidelines provided by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Buhari is currently in Paris to attend the Conference of Parties 21 (COP21) on climate change along with 150 other world leaders.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians, including Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, have criticized the president over his frequent travels.

Buhari’s aide, Garba Shehu, however rose to his boss’ defence saying that the president's foreign trips are for the country’s good and not for his personal enjoyment
