President to name board and parastatal appointees this week

Pulse can exclusively report that President Muhammadu Buhari will announce board and parastatal appointees in the coming days

President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari will announce board and parastatal appointments before the end of the week, presidency sources have told Pulse.

The President has dithered on making the appointments; a task that should have ideally been carried out within the first few months of his presidency.

"The wait will be over this week. He's a man who loves to take his time. Hopefully, the hue and cry over marginalisation of certain ethnic groups in federal appointments will be put to rest this week", said our source who craved anonymity for this story.

Board and parastatal appointees often make a chunk of federal appointments. Only a few appointments have been made thus far by the Buhari presidency.

Heads of critical agencies like the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), have since been named.

But hundreds of federal vacancies have been crying to be filled.

The President returned to Nigeria on Sunday from the United States, where he's been attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) alongside other world leaders.

"I'm happy to be back home, after spending the week in New York for UNGA. Grateful to all the officials who helped make the trip successful", Buhari said.
