Abdullahi made the comments on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, during a book launch in Abuja.
“If we find truly that we cannot peacefully develop this country, the solution is to go our separate ways, why not? Even now, we are not happy with the kind of standard of security that is being applied in the country,” he said.
“If you are not going to fight Avengers, you should stop fighting Boko Haram. Any government that fails to ensure the wellbeing of its people has the least legitimacy, it is not worth being a government.
“Nigeria has not made the kind of progress that was expected of it since its independence after 56 years. We must take into account that we are responsible for these,” he added.
Abdullahi also urged the Buhari government to research the Boko Haram insurgency to better understand how to combat it.
