'Cameron's statement NOT about Buhari administration' - Presidency

He said fine-tuning the country's image, which over the years has been dragged in the mud home and abroad, is what Buhari is trying hard to achieve.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Tuesday, May 10, said that Cameron's statement was based on the country's past records and not the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

He said fine-tuning the country's image, which over the years has been dragged in the mud home and abroad, is what Buhari is trying hard to achieve, which according to him, is why why the President was chosen as a keynote speaker at a pre-anti corruption summit in London.

“It (Cameron’s statement) is certainly not reflective of the good work that the President is doing. The eyes of the world are on what is happening here," Shehu said.

“The Prime Minister must be looking at an old snapshot of Nigeria. Things are changing with corruption and everything else. That, we believe is the reason they chose him as a keynote speaker at the pre-summit conference.”

The Presidential spokesman also commended the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, who the same video that Cameron made the statement, said that Buhari is not corrupt.
