‘We are winning war against terrorists,’ FG says

Nigeria’s Federal Government has said that it’s winning the war against terrorist sect, Boko Haram.

This was disclosed on Monday, September 28, 2015, by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Ismaila.

“We are winning the war. We have put machinery in place to meet the presidential deadline handed over to us and we are sure that the nation’s security agencies are up to the task,” Ismaila said while speaking with journalists on the side-lines of the ongoing 70th United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York.

“Nigeria is doing very well and we are very proud that we have a President who is very focused and who world leaders have tremendous confidence in,” he added.

President Muhammadu Buhari is also in New York and is expected to attend the World Leaders Summit on Violent Extremism to which he was specially invited by UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon.

Buhari has given the Nigerian military three months to end the Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
