Suspected Boko Haram militants have launched an attack on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, military authorities say.

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters revealed earlier today, January 25, that simultaneous attacks on Maiduguri and Monguno were being repelled by troops.

The DHQ also announced that a curfew had been imposed on Maiduguri to enable uninterrupted pursuit of fleeing terrorists.

The latest attack comes barely 24 hours after President Goodluck Jonathan concluded his campaign in the state.
