Army exposes terrorists’ evil plan for the New Year

The disclosure was made via a statement released by Colonel Mustapha Anka, the spokesperson of anti-terrorist force, Operation Lafiya Dole.

The Nigerian Army has revealed some tactics that Boko Haram intends to use to interfere with New Year celebrationsin the North-East.

The disclosure was made via a statement released by Colonel Mustapha Anka, the spokesperson of anti-terrorist force, Operation Lafiya Dole.

The statement reads in part:

“Attention has been drawn to terrorists’ intention to use beggars to cause mayhem, conceal explosive in bundles of firewood to be placed in crowded and strategic areas within Maiduguri and environs.

“Additionally, the general public should be wary of terrorists’ plan to deceive the populace by way of shouting ‘Boko Haram’ to create panic in order to lure unsuspected members of the public for maximum casualty during and after the New Year celebrations.

“The command wishes to remind the general public to be extra vigilant during and after the New Year celebrations as the ban on bangers and fire crackers is still in force.”

Meanwhile, the Borno State government has ordered a restriction of movement in the state from 5:00pm on December 31, 2015 to 6:00am on Saturday,  January 2, 2016 in order to prevent terrorist attacks.
