‘We’ll eradicate disease soon’, Health official says

This was revealed on Wednesday, February 11 by the Director of Animal Production and Husbandry Services at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Ademola Raji in Abuja.

The Nigerian government has said that it is in full control of the current outbreak and will soon eradicate the disease from the country.

“The Federal Government is in full control of the situation and is using multiple approaches to combat the flu. I can assure you that Government is making good progress in the control of bird flu and sooner than later, it would be stamped out of the country,” Raji said during an interview with journalists.

“It is an agriculture issue but we are working in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Information and other development partners like Food and Agricultural Organisation to combat it, ’’ he added.

The disease was first recorded in Lagos and Kano before spreading to nine other states.

The affected states are Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Delta, Edo, Plateau, Gombe, Imo, Oyo and Jigawa states.
