An outbreak of avian influenza, aka bird flu, in Nigeria has now spread to seven states in the country, authorities say.
Disease now in 7 Nigerian states, 140,390 birds infected
According to the Minister of Agriculture, Akinwumi Adesina cases of the disease have been recorded in Lagos, Kano, Ogun, Delta, Rivers, Edo and Plateau.

Adesina also said that 21 commercial farms in the mentioned states had been affected while more than 140,390 birds had been exposed to the virus.
The Minister also stated that 22,573 of the birds had been killed while promising that the disease would be contained.
The disease was first discovered in Lagos and Kano before spreading to the other 5 states.
