Ngilari was recently sentenced to five years imprisonment, but a Yola High Court had last week granted him bail on health grounds.

It was later found that the medical report that aided the ex- governor's release was not authorized by the prison authorities.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, April 4, by the Prisons spokesperson, Francis Enobore, the suspended senior officers were indicted for the roles they played in the issuance of the unauthorised medical report.

The affected officers are Peter Tenkwa, the controller of Prisons for Adamawa State and Abubakar Abaka, the Deputy Comptroller and John Bukar, a Superintendent of Prisons.

In the suspension letter dated 3rd April, 2017 and signed by the Director/Secretary of the Board, Sunday Ogu, the officers were relieved of their official duties pending the outcome of all necessary investigations into the matter.

A new Controller and officer-in-charge has already been posted to take over the state command and Yola prison respectively.

A medical doctor was also deployed to oversee the prison clinic, the statement said.

However, the prison authorities did not indicate any intention to either re-arrest the Ngilari or appeal his controversial bail.

The ex-governor is believed to have left Nigeria after the controversial release.
