Former FCT minister granted bail

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Mohammed on October 24, on allegations of fraud, and he has been in the Commission's agency since then.

Even though the EFCC had earlier granted him an administrative bail, he remained in custody.

On November 25, Justice Hussein Yusuf had adjourned the hearing of an application for Mohammed’s bail.

According to the ex-minister's lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN), the court eventually granted the application on Tuesday afternoon.

"The bail was granted this afternoon, with the same conditions in the administrative bail. He is expected to produce two sureties; who must be of the directorate cadre in the Nigerian Civil Service," Uche told Premium Times.

Uche added that the sureties are also expected to have landed properties in Abuja.

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, was not immediately available for comments.

The anti-graft agency is said to be investigating several petitions accusing Mohammed of hundreds of billions of naira land fraud while in office.
