Buhari summons Police IG over insubordination

President Buhari also asked for a comprehensive report of police operations in trouble states.

On January 9, 2018, the President ordered Idris to relocate to Benue in the heat of the clashes between farmers and herdsmen that had claimed over 70 lives.

The IGP was said to moved to the state the next day but he did not spend 24 hours there.

He reportedly asked the Deputy Inspector-General, operations, Joshiak Habila to take over while Idris moved to Nasarawa State.

Two months after the order, Buhari did not know that the police boss did his own bidding.

The President became aware of the situation on Monday, March 12, 2018, when he paid a visit to the troubled state.

Announcing Idris' summon via Twitter on Tuesday night, Buhari also demanded a comprehensive report of police operations in the states affected by the farmer-herdsmen crisis.

Buhari has been criticised for being ignorant of the fact that the IGP did not stay in Benue, a matter of public knowledge.

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, who is an ardent critic of the Buhari administration, said the President is ignorant of what goes on under his nose.

"What manner of a President will give order to the IGP on January 9, only to be telling Nigerians on March 12  (2 months after) that he never knew that the IGP disobeyed his order?" Fayose asked.

Plateau Attack

Meanwhile, the killer-herdsmen have launched a fresh attack in Plateau State, leaving 25 people dead.
