Kogi Governor sacks cabinet, reverses action 10mins after

Sources familiar with the situation said the Governor ordered all the affected workers to hand over keys to their official cars.

During the State Executive Committee meeting held on Sunday, Bello was said to have sacked all commissioners and relieved all the 21 local government administrators of their duties.

Sources familiar with the situation said the Governor ordered all the affected workers to hand over keys to their official cars to the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folasade Arike Ayoade.

According to Punch, the dissolution might be because of the controversial arms importation last Thursday.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had intercepted sewn military camouflages with bowler hats, many bullet proof vests, night vision goggles, tactical boots, tactical knapsacks, training canvas, boxing gloves etc allegedly belonging to Bello.

Bello was said to be angry with his cabinet members whom he accused of leaking the information about the arms importation.

It was gathered that 10 minutes after announcing the dissolution, Bello made a U-turn, and demanded "better performance and better relationship" with the state government.

Confirming the development, Bello's spokesman, Kingsley Fanwo, said the officials have been asked to return to their position.

Reports said the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Edward Onoja, who is said to be a powerful and influential member of the governor's kitchen cabinet, urged Bello not to take the drastic action.

Onoja's superior argument was said to be that it would be difficult to build a new set of loyalists to campaign for Bello's 2019 re-election bid.
